The Hip Mom Deserves a Hip Gift This Mother's Day

Well ... might as well start dropping the hints now, you know he forgot Mother's Day already.  If you start the hinting now, at least you have a 50/50 chance of getting what you want for Mother's Day, right?  Start leaving windows open on the computer by accident that just happen to be on the product page of what you'd like this year.

Leave a magazine laying around with it open to an ad for your favorite fragrance or something.  You may be a mom now, but you're still a woman.  If he can't take the hints, just come out and tell him what you want.  Chances are, you are both still young and you haven't learned yet that everything has to be spelled out, sometimes with illustrations, to the man (or woman) of your life, even down to what you want for Mother's Day.  Get the kids in on it, too, the more back-up the better!

Now's a great time, too, to start a Mother's Day tradition of your own.  You can carry on a tradition that's already in your family or do something you want.  For instance, I take half the day off on Mother's Day and my kids will usually do something for me like clean the house or make me a little something.  Then, the rest of the day I like to spend with my kids.  Try it - I find that traditions make special days that much more special and we have a tradition for every special day in my house.
